The Godzilla is a 7.3-liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine from Ford Motor used to power three-quarter ton and one-ton heavy duty trucks like the Ford Super Duty. Featuring an overhead valve (OHV), pushrod design, in a V configuration, the Godzilla architecture was added to Ford’s heavy duty lineup of engines alongside the 6.2L Boss and the 6.7L Power Stroke turbodiesel for the 2020 model year. As we write this, the Godzilla is the largest displacement gasoline engine manufactured by the Ford Motor Company.
While typical modern engine designs use an overhead camshaft setup, which utilizes fewer moving parts as well as superior intake and exhaust valve timing, Ford decided to stay with a traditional pushrod configuration for the Godzilla.
